The first names confirmed for Team Romania at this summer’s most anticipated football event – “Ronaldinho & Friends” – have been revealed! Seven iconic figures from Romanian football will return to the pitch for the exhibition match organized by Sports Festival on June 14, 2025, at BTarena.
Adrian Mutu, Bogdan Lobonț, Răzvan Raț, Cosmin Contra, Adrian Ilie, Alexandru Chipciu, and Florin Cernat will represent Romania against a star-studded international selection.
Adrian Mutu, former national team captain, is regarded as one of Romania’s most talented forwards, while Bogdan Lobonț earned his legendary status as a goalkeeper through a solid career at AS Roma and with the national team.
Fans will also get the chance to see Răzvan Raț, a former Romanian captain who had a successful run at Shakhtar Donetsk, and Cosmin Contra, a former national team coach and defender who had standout performances at AC Milan and Getafe.
Adrian Ilie, nicknamed “Cobra” for his spectacular finishes, Alexandru Chipciu, a multiple-time champion with FCSB and CFR Cluj and currently active in the Romanian Superliga, and Florin Cernat, known for his exceptional passing skills, round out a team that promises true football entertainment.
Team Romania will face a world-class international lineup featuring football legends such as Ronaldinho, Marco Materazzi, Wesley Sneijder, Júlio César, Ricardinho, Kevin Kurányi, and Cristian Zaccardo.
The exhibition match will follow a 5+1 format, with two 30-minute halves, and promises a memorable football show, packed with technique, flair, and deep fan engagement.
All players will perform live in front of 9,000 spectators. The event is SOLD OUT — tickets released in December and January sold out within hours.
The 6th edition of SPORTS FESTIVAL, Romania’s largest multi-sport event dedicated to grassroots and mass sports, will take place from June 12–15, 2025, in Cluj-Napoca. Following a successful 2024 edition featuring global tennis icons, organizers are preparing new surprises and challenges for all sports enthusiasts.
As usual, the event will unfold across the Cluj Arena plateau, Stadium Alley, Radisson Garden, Central Park, the children’s playground near the stadium, and Iuliu Hațieganu Park.
The concept of the festival is broad and inclusive: for four days, sports take over the city, inviting everyone to rediscover the joy of movement.
